Sneezies App Review
Just a few minutes ago, I did a review for Accuweather’s iPhone app. In that post, I lamented that I didn’t have time for doing app reviews. Yet, here I am doing another one. What gives? Well, I thought it appropriate to review the app that is causing me to have no time to review apps. That’s Sneezies.
A few days ago, I came across Antair Games and their Sneezies app. Now I wish I’d never heard of them. You see, Sneezies is addictive. It’s one of those simple little games that you just get stuck on. After all, how hard can it be to pop a bubble or two (or 100)? Surely, it can’t be that hard, right?
Well … playing Sneezies was actually quite difficult at first. You see, I didn’t bother reading any other posts about it or watch any videos. I just popped right in so to speak. Sure enough, it seems the goal was to pop some bubbles to reach a goal. How do you pop bubbles? You touch them, right? So, there I was poking away at the screen trying to pop bubbles. No matter how many bubbles I hit, nothing ever seemed to happen after the first few touches. I couldn’t find any rhyme or reason to the popping happening on screen. Also, just keep in mind that the only pressure sensitive screen on a smart phone belongs to some other company, not Apple. No matter how HARD you hit that screen trying to pop that dam….. sorry. Got a bit carried away there. Suffice it to say, that additional pressure on the screen won’t cause any more bubbles to pop.
Finally, it dawned on me that I was an idiot. Yes, other people have told me that before, but I never believed it until now. You only get to touch the screen once to pop a bubble. You have to time it just right so that the pop causes a chain reaction of other pops. Again, sounds pretty easy, right? Just try getting past level 25 or 26. Then, struggle at that level for a few days and manage to get onto 27 and 28. Actually, it was my wife that managed that. Our combined high score is 1432. I’ve seen other people with scores of 1700+. I’ve no clue how they managed those feats. Here’s our actual score:

Now, other than popping some bubbles, there isn’t a whole lot to Sneezies. You just…. well, pop bubbles. Is that worth 99 cents? For me, it was. As I said, it’s strangely addicting. Somehow, a game that doesn’t require any specific skill (logic, reason, reflexes, etc) that I’ve discerned is still very fun. Its main draw is the challenge. Because it is such a simple game, you don’t want to give up. Next thing you know, you’re laying in bed at midnight with a sore finger.
Congratulations to Antair Games for developing a fun, little app. You can get it here for 99 cents.
